Cheri Brown, L.Ac. Acupuncturist in Tucson, AZ
Once upon a time I was a long distance runner. I ran about ten miles a day. After years of doing this, I developed a lot of problems with my right foot. My foot experienced more surgeries than a person could count. Still I continued to run Sabino Canyon three times a week, coming home to ice my foot and take pain pills in order to sleep at night. One day I went to my doctor to get a refill for my pain meds and to get my cortisone shot. He said to me, "have you ever thought about trying acupuncture?" I said, "at this point I am willing to try anything". The pain was making it difficult for me to sleep at night. He referred me to an acupuncturist( who was a nurse working for him at one time). I went for my first treatment... the results were amazing!! After three treatments I was pain free-- no more pain meds were needed.
Then about ten years later I went to Montana in the winter time to help my mother. While I was there the excruciating pain reappeared. I thought, 'what did I do last time the pain was this bad? Oh, I had Acupuncture.' There just happened to be an Acupuncturist in Great Falls, Montana. I started seeing him once a week and the pain disappeared. Also, my whole life I had a lot of problems with asthma. I was taking about two medications a day and using an inhaler. I just hating taking all that
stuff, it made me feel horrible, but it made it so I could
breathe. I mentioned to the acupuncturist about my asthma and he said that he would be able to help with that
also. He prescribed Chinese herbs and did Acupuncture. It was amazing!! No more medications-- no more inhalers!! I have not used an inhaler since 2002. I was thinking..... this Acupuncture stuff is incredible!!!
At that point in time, I was recently divorced and wanted to do something different with my
life. After much soul searching, I decided that I wanted to become an Acupuncturist so that I could help people the way that I had been helped.
In my practice, I like to help people, to make them feel better, to improve their quality of life.
